You See Monsters + Q&A

Tony Jackson / Australia / 58 Mins / English / Documentary

“A show that combines political critique with arts journalism.”
THE GUARDIAN

The Australian Muslim community has been demonised and castrated of their religious identity in the wake of bigotry and racism that has echoed throughout Australian culture. Seven rising Australian-Muslim artists Abdul Abdullah, Cigdem Aydemir, Safdar Ahmed, Aamer Rahman, Abdul-Raman Abdullah, Sara Mansour and Zohab Zee Khan produce their own art which doesn’t shy away from these hidden truths as they express themselves as proud Australian-Muslims within their art forms. Your religion nor skin colour does not make you less Australian and these artists hope to fight back against bigotry through their artwork not by chewing it slowly but by tackling it as large as they can bite.

Post film panel discussion with director Tony Jackson, Abdul Abdullah and Nur Shkembi
