Jaha’s Promise – Canberra

Mike Plunkett / USA, Bolivia / 2015 / 76 mins / Spanish and Quechua with English subtitles / Documentary

“Jaha’s Promise cuts straight through such confusion to hammer home the core inhumanities. It clarifies and simplifies. Most importantly, it confirms that campaigning can make a real difference. Worth heeding.”
DONALD CLARKE, IRISH TIMES

With a mission to change a culture and end a brutal tradition, Jaha Dukureh vows, ‘My daughter will not go through this. It stops with me’. Jaha’s Promise, follows the life of Jaha Dukureh. A staggering 200 million women worldwide live with the effects of female genital mutilation (FGM). On average over 6,000 girls are mutilated every day worldwide.
